Ivy Court welcomes a local reminiscence group

Ivy Court invited Lesley and Rosemary from a reminiscence group in Norfolk into the home to talk about homes and gardens when our residents were younger. The two ladies showed items that the residents may have found around the home and garden and talked about the uses. One of the items was an old toaster that they would have used, a couple of the residents commented that you had to keep popping the toast up to make sure it was not over cooking. They also discussed an old rolling pin that they would have used in cooking and baking, residents and staff commented that rolling pins haven’t really changed much since they were younger.

They also talked about old lamps, hot water bottles, toasties, baking equipment and cleaning.

These items then got the residents talking about growing up in their family homes and the things their mothers made them do to help around the house. They are looking forward to another session in the future.
