It’s all green at Coxhill Manor

With a new Irish resident Thomas and a new carer Jackie from Dublin we had to make sure we celebrated St Patrick’s Day in style at Coxhill Manor care home in Woking  !

We made a weekend of it with Irish dancing and Irish music and of course Irish themed bunting and balloons.  And our chefs created a special St Patrick’s Day menu too!

The Kelalou Academy of Irish Dancing entertained us with some outstanding performances.

Residents lined the conservatory to enjoy the show – a series of short dances executed to perfection.  And the little ones really captured the attention and the hearts of our residents.  (and staff!) The dancers ranged from 4 years old to 21, and had the energy and enthusiasm to leave us spellbound!

Residents Thomas and Patricia used to do Irish dancing in their younger days – so it brought a lot of happy memories back which they enjoyed sharing

We had a 10 minute ‘interval’ for the dancers to rest and rehydrate – in which our residents rehydrated with tipple of whisky – before the show continued.

The hours of dedication and practice was clear for all to see, and the applause and cheers for the dancers said it all!    We can’t wait to welcome the Kelalou Academy back to Coxhill.

Our favourite Irish entertainer Brendan gave us a wonderful afternoon of Irish music as he entertained with his beautiful violin and clarinet playing, and many a story about Ireland too…    And of course an afternoon of Irish music on St Patricks Day wouldn’t be complete without another tipple of whiskey!
