Garth House visit Denbies

On Monday 20th June, residents at Garth House in Dorking visited Denbies, the largest vineyard in England. This year, Denbies are celebrating their 30th anniversary and so the atmosphere felt particularly special. Residents had the opportunity to visit the ‘indoor cinema vineyard tour’ which showed the vineyard through the seasons. This is a new feature for 2016 and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who watched it as it was a fantastic visual experience.

The tour was very educational, discussing the geology and history of the estate and describing the journey from vine to bottle. Everyone left feeling a little more knowledgeable about wine than they had previously.

After the tour had come to an end, there was coffee and cake to be enjoyed in the shop which proved to be extremely popular. There was also the opportunity to view the gift shop and residents continued to discuss what they had learnt with one another and what they already knew.

“We provide an active, educational and diverse activities provision at Garth House” said Roz Salmani, Home Manager: “Our residents always enjoy trips to the local attractions and surrounding areas, so we participate in as many of these as possible throughout the year. Denbies was a fantastic trip for everyone involved as it was so visual and educational but the coffee and cake at the end of the day was enjoyed most of all!”
