Garth House celebrate National Care Home Open Day

On Friday 17th June, Garth House in Dorking, Surrey invited visitors into the home as part of National Care Home Open Day. Thousands of care homes across the UK take part in the day each year, welcoming the public and arranging events and activities that help to create lasting links between care home residents and their local communities. Family, friends and visitors at Garth House enjoyed the day and a warm welcome from Roz Salmani, Home Manager, and her team. The home was decorated in Caring Homes’ gold and blue colours which helped to create a particularly special atmosphere.

Information was provided about the services available at the home and visitors were able to talk to residents and loved ones. There were several competitions throughout the day with the chance to win prizes which were enjoyable by all. A highlight for most people were the cream teas in the afternoon which went down very well!

“Our doors are always open at Garth House” said Roz Salmani, Home Manager: “Meeting our team and residents is the best way to experience life here and a visit can provide information and support, from funding the cost of care to moving in. It was great to participate in National Care Home Open Day because not everyone knew our doors are always open, so felt more comfortable and relaxed visiting on 17th June. It was also a great chance to connect Garth House to the local community, which was always enjoy doing.”

Garth House provides residential, nursing and dementia care for up to 40 elderly people. The home is located on the western slopes of Tower Hill, just to the south of Dorking in Surrey. The home offers a full range of care – including trial stays, short stay and convalescent care, as well as long-term care. High quality palliative care is also offered, as well as care for residents with higher nursing needs.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
