Garth House applauded by CQC for cheerful and supportive care team

Garth House care home in Dorking has been praised in its latest CQC inspection report for its ’cheerful and very supportive’ care team The home was rated as providing a ‘good’ care service in all areas in the inspection.

Garth House were given a ‘good’ overall rating for providing a safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led care service.

The CQC report praised Garth House in its overall summary, and noted: ‘We had positive feedback about the caring nature of the staff. People told us they felt safe living at Garth House and that staff were “cheerful and very supportive”. One person said the service was, “Excellent, I am very well looked after”. A staff member told us that Garth House was a “great place to work; everyone is so caring”.’

The report continued: ‘On the day of our inspection the activities coordinator organised an exercise group for people which generated a lot of noise and interest for those that took part. One relative told us that during the week activities were well organised and “people have fun”.’
To find out about people’s experience of living at the home inspectors spoke with six residents and four relatives, sitting and engaging with them. They also observed how staff cared for people and worked together as a team, and spoke with six staff which included the registered manager.

Roz Salmani, Home Manager, says: “We strive to give our residents the care and lifestyle they wish to have and involve them in every aspect of their care. We are all extremely happy at the praise we received from inspectors in the report following their visit to Garth House in September this year. All of our team members, residents and families work well together to support each other and it is very pleasing to see that our service has been rated as good by the CQC.”
