A fun filled month of activities at Beaumont Villa

The last month at Beaumont Villa, St Peter, Jersey has been very busy for residents and team alike, what with Wimbledon taking place, and now the build up to the 2016 Olympic Games. Our Activities Coordinators, Dina and Myra organised lots of interactive and entertaining activities and some are briefly summarised below.

To start off the Wimbledon season, our residents enjoyed some tennis based activities;  everyone had fun with a bat and ball and of course, we could not let the European Cup go by without some form of activity, so we also took part in a game of ‘blow football’ on a tray using a straw and a ball.

As part of our physical activity programme of activities, we enjoyed some ‘Zumba in the Chair’, which was great fun for all who took part and our residents got the chance to enjoy the Latin beats whilst gently exercising, despite the heat of the hottest day so far this year.

We have also held several music sessions too with lots of participation and fun from all involved. They say music is a great energiser and lifts the soul and our residents really look forward to and enjoy our musical based activities.

Some very welcome visitors

Children from our local nursery, ranging in ages from three to four years old, were invited to join us for a visit and came in to our home to meet our residents. They took part in a lovely sing-a-long, coloured some pictures and made bracelets at the end of their visit which they gave as gifts to our residents. Seeing the look of joy on all their faces was great and we know that is a valuable experience for children and brightened the day for our residents.

Last but not least, a group from the Princes’ Trust came in to play bingo with our residents. We had almost a full lounge of enthusiastic players and our home resounded to cries such as ‘legs eleven’ and ‘full house!’ The bingo session had everyone joining in with much laughter and a little gentle competition, and our residents were ably assisted by the young me for the Princes Trust who kindly gave up their time to join us.

We look forward to welcoming all our visitors back again at Beaumont Villa.
