Forth Bay rebuilt and rejuvenated rejoices in residents return

Forth Bay nursing home located in Kincardine, close to the River Forth, has welcomed back the last group of residents to return after the fire-stricken care home was damaged just over two years ago in August 2017.

The return of 12 Forth Bay residents who enjoyed the hospitality of Avondale Care at the Glenbervie Care Home, following the safe evacuation of residents and colleagues, completes the last step in a vast operation by owners Caring Homes, to maintain & provide care for over 51 residents in three different locations whilst investing significantly in the refurbishment and rebuild of the nursing and dementia care home.

Amazingly Caring Homes’ carers, nurses and hospitality colleagues from Forth Bay followed residents to each of the three locations and continued to provide high quality care throughout the two years, despite many facing significant changes to their travel arrangements. Such was the dedication of colleagues that some visited on days off with residents in other homes maintaining valued links and shared passions.

Forth Bay has undergone a complete refurbishment in the wing that was left standing and celebrates now the build of their new wing which has enabled an increase in available beds by six to 58 with many new features and benefits.

As the new wing opens residents will enjoy newly landscaped gardens, an abundance of light flooding through airy rooms achieved through addition of many extra windows, new quiet areas that offer increased choice for residents and relatives wishing to find space to talk and catch up. Lounges feature kitchen and dining areas that will enable residents to cook, bake and make refreshments for themselves and others if they feel inclined with facilities sufficiently comprehensive to make a full Sunday lunch if they so wish!

New front doors on each residents’ room in the refurbished wing, personally selected in peoples favourite colour helps to aid navigation and decrease any confusion in finding the way around the home.

Residents and relatives will find plenty of options to enjoy the outdoors within the redeveloped safe gardens around the home and will easily be able to pop out for some basic supplies as a local community shop has been built just opposite the home in the two years they have been away.

Once residents are settled in, Fiona Day, Manager of Forth Bay and the team will be organising a small ‘house warming’ with a pic-nic and will also be planning a larger celebration to include many members of the local community whose help was and has been invaluable in securing the safety and wellbeing of residents and colleagues in the aftermath of the fire. The company remain extremely appreciative of the support from the local Council who have assisted throughout.
