East Hill House at The Older Persons Summit

East Hill House Home Manager Samantha Booty and a member of the team, Charlene Rosewarne, Activities Coordinator, recently attended a one-day conference named ‘The Older Persons’ Summit’ organised by East Hampshire District Council.

This event gathered more than 20 local community organisations and charities together for a day of workshops, presentations and networking and to see how they can work together to improve the lives of older people in the district.

It was a very informative day for us at East Hill House as it gave us insight on what initiatives and extra support are being put in place locally to support the elderly to live in their own homes for as long as possible, as well as the two new purpose built communities that plans are underway for in the local town, Petersfield.

We ended the day with workshops to discuss what’s working well, what’s duplicated and where the gaps were in Hampshire. A particular topic of discussion which was of great interest to us was the provision of support and services for those living with dementia in the area; beyond the early and particularly the later stages of dementia.

It was really interesting to discuss and share ideas on how we can work together and improve communication between all the wonderful services that are provided through different charities and organisations.

Home Manager, Samantha Booty said:

“It was a great event and opportunity to meet so many like minded people all in one place. All of the team at East Hill House look forward to continuing to support these events and help shape the future of our elderly communities.”

East Hill House provides residential and dementia care for up to 32 elderly people and were awarded ‘Best Dementia Care Home of the Year’ at the prestigious National Dementia Care Awards in 2017. Rated ‘Good’ by the quality inspector, CQC, we continuously improve the lives of our residents through offering wide ranging activities and events both in and outside of the home involving members of the local community as often as possible.
