Christmas Bazaar at Riverside Place

Riverside Place care home’s Christmas Bazaar was held in the Orangery and Wine bar and was open to our residents, relatives and the public. For the bazaar, the residents created many items to sell, including home-made Christmas puddings, Peppermint Creams, Toy bags for children, a Tombola and other activities such as face painting and games. As well as these stalls, two local businesses also ran a stall which were home-made lollipops and a cake stall. We had a local bakery donate two beautiful white chocolate and raspberry Christmas logs, one of which we used as a tombola prize and another was handed out to guests as a complimentary treat.

Our Kitchen and Hospitality teams provided home-made mince pies and mulled wine, along with pickles and chutneys that were available to purchase. This fun event was held for many reasons, the main reason was for the enjoyment of our residents and getting them involved. They all pitched in with the baking of goods, decorating the home and creating gift bags for the children. It was also an opportunity for family members to join their loved ones and it was very heart-warming to see everyone dancing to the live music that was performed by a fantastic 1940’s style singer.

The feedback from our residents was that it was a ‘fantastic day’ and ‘very fun’ and it was lovely to see the residents that don’t usually want to leave their room when asked, getting involved and even having a dance!

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
