Chinese New Year at East Hill House

The residents and staff at East Hill House really looked forward to celebrating the Chinese New Year of the Monkey, we all enjoyed making lanterns and discussing the year we were born and what it represented.

We then all enjoyed an afternoon tasting different Chinese foods some of them being favourites and others some had not tried before, we enjoyed prawn toast, duck spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken, beef in black bean sauce, sweet and sour prawns, chicken chow mein, egg fried rice, special fried rice, chicken rice and lastly prawn crackers. This was all washed down with a traditional Chinese Lychee liquor to celebrate.  It’s hard to day what the favourite dish of the day was as the plates were left spotless!

It was an afternoon enjoyed by all, taste buds were titivated with new tastes and those of old, with memories and conversations of past travels & holidays in China.
