Caring Homes Support Local Day Centre
Abbeycrest, Coxhill Manor and Dormy House Care Homes, part of the Caring Homes Group, have been showing their support for a local day centre by getting involved with their Christmas Fayre.
The WADE Day Centre held a Christmas Fayre on Saturday 27th November, which was a great success! WADE is a registered charity whose aim is to promote the welfare of the over 60s in Wokingham and surrounding areas.
The WADE Day Centre has been in operation for over 47 years and likes to bring together people from the local area to support the elderly community. Despite the arrival of Storm Arwen, several organisations got involved in the Christmas Fayre to raise money for the charity. Abbeycrest, Coxhill Manor and Dormy House were present and were raising awareness of Dementia through a few activities, including asking people to count out five skittle sweets whilst wearing a pair of oven gloves!
To keep the younger, and not so young, entertained there was also a Bagatelle board with a chocolate hamper as the main prize for the highest scorer.
All in all the event was a roaring success and the WADE Day Centre received over £2000 from the day.
