Brooklyn residents treated to a mystery tour

Residents at Brooklyn House in Attleborough took to the road this week for a mystery tour on the Caring Homes mini bus.

Resident Raymond Challis said “It’s a joy to see the open road and the countryside. I used to like this time of year with the colours when I was a Lorry driver”.

mystery-tourThe tour stopped at the Desert Rats memorial in Thetford, the memorial is dedicated to all who served in the 7th Armoured Division (The Desert Rats), the 4th Armoured Brigade (The Black Rats) and the 7th Armoured Brigade (The Green Jerboa), throughout history. This meant a lot to some of our residents as it was so close to memorial day.

This was followed by a coffee stop and then through the woods around Sandringham and onto the highlight, a pub lunch in Hunstanton.

Resident Vicky Williams said, “The meal was delicious and I really enjoyed seeing some of the Norfolk countryside.”

Every one needs to be outdoors, sometimes this provides a good reason for residents to leave their rooms if that is where they like to spend their time. A trip out is good for mental health and keep up the spirits or our residents, outings can be fun and a welcome change from daily life. These activities provide residents with a sense of freedom and contentment and plenty of stories that they build together, helping to build on their relationships with each other. And a breath of fresh air is could for everyone.

Brooklyn House provides specialist nursing care in a purpose built environment for up to 38 elderly people.
