Brooklyn Residents show off their Easter Bonnets

27th March 2016
Residents at Brooklyn House enjoyed some friendly competition over Easter with the annual Easter Bonnet Parade. The residents had created the headpieces during Brooklyns regular craft club. They all had a great time picking a hat and then decorating it with the various Easter inspired apparel we had bought into the home, from baby chicks and rabbits to small pom poms and feathers. They used glue, scissors and paint to finish off their creations. The craft club at Brooklyn is an important part of our life. Regular activity is extremely beneficial to our residents, especially those who have the beginning of dementia or concentration issues. These types of activities help keep them involved in the world around them and mixing with the other residents. It also provides them with daily activities and exercises their brains.Despite a very tough decision the winner was Allen Webb and the runners up were Jean Morter and Hazel Mason. All three residents were delighted to win prizes and said it had brought back some nice childhood memories.
