Bertie celebrates his big day at the Wilfred Bridge

Popular Rendlesham resident Bertie Green celebrated his 92nd birthday in style this week as he enjoyed a pub lunch at the Wilfred Bridge.

The picturesque pub sits at the head of navigation on the River Deben and only a short distance from one of Britain’s most important archaeological sites, Sutton Hoo.

In the two years that he has been at Rendlesham, Bertie has become a much-loved member of the community. He enjoys nothing more than listening to classical music, taking part in the regular quizzes and the occasional horse race on the big screen.

Located on outskirts of the village of the same name, Rendlesham is a purpose-built care home exceptional residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 60 elderly people.
