Annual Summer Fete at Walstead Place

Walstead Place in Haywards Heath were delighted to host their annual Summer Fete event for our residents and guests on Saturday 6th August. It was a chance for all the residents, friends, family and our care team to come together and enjoy a garden party setting and enjoy the summer sunshine. It was lovely for us all to be outside and enjoy the beautiful gardens here at Walstead Place.

It is a big event here at Walstead Place and is eagerly looked forward to and talked about for weeks beforehand. The residents enjoy sharing the experience both before and after with their families and friends and a great opportunity to welcome loved ones into the home and for everyone to come together and socialise.

The Mayor of Haywards Heath, Cllr Mr Sujan Wickremaratchi came to celebrate with us and helped us with presenting Helen Avis, a member of our care team with her care certificate.

There were lots of fun activities at our Summer Fete including an open air auction, fabulous musical entertainment performed by a local choir, Scaynes Hill Community Choir, cake and book sale.

The weather was absolutely fantastic especially for our open air auction and we had some amazing prizes including a luxury night away for two which was sold to Bill Moffat for £80 and four day executive passes for two for the Sussex V Worcestershire Cricket.   There were big cheers for each winner and it was one of the highlights of the day.

We also received a monetary donation of £250 given to us from Mr Wyatt, son of a late resident Sylvia Wyatt. We are proud to say that Walstead Place raised a whopping £899 which goes towards our residents fund.

Jacqueline Ferguson, Home Manager said:

“I could not be there on this special day and I would like to give special thanks  to my Administrator Louise who kindly stepped in for me and to all my team, friends and family that helped out to make it a truly wonderful event once again. Seeing everyone with big smiles, relaxing and enjoying themselves makes it all worthwhile. The donations were gratefully received and a very big thank you to all our contributors – we are very grateful for all your support.”
