I qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) in 1975, after which I joined the National Health Service where I worked in Acute Psychiatry for 10 years.
After my time in the NHS, I decided to further my career by providing professional nursing care to elderly people, working for 10 years as a Home Manager for Cabarfeidh Care Home with Caring Homes, and have more recently been responsible for the management of Beechwood Park in Alloa.
I find managing Strathview rewarding, stimulating and satisfying – every day brings a fresh challenge. I have gained a range of training certificates, in subjects that include: Behaviours that Challenge, Dementia Care, Palliative Care and Promoting Nutrition in Older People. I have also achieved the Registered Managers Award to support my role as Home Manager.
I always endeavour to develop my clinical skills through ongoing training and strive to ensure all of my Care Team are committed to ongoing training and personal development. I feel this empowers them and enables them to continue delivering high quality care services to our residents.
I develop, maintain and evaluate the systems we use to promote the rights and diversity of people in our home and maintain a service which achieves the best possible outcomes for both our residents and Care Team. My passion is the promotion of person-centred care, which I strongly believe enhances the quality of life for all who reside at Strathview.
My ethos is to treat others as I would like to be treated, encapsulating dignity and respect at all times.
