Oak Manor Care Home Holds Dementia Seminar Day
Oak Manor care home, in East Dereham, will be holding a dementia seminar day for the public on 19th November 2009.
The care home is part of the Caring Homes portfolio, the UK’s leading independent care provider. Caring Homes has become a pioneer in the provision of superior quality dementia care, involving top professionals and working with the University of Stirling to ensure that their homes are renowned for their exceptional facilities and accommodation.
The day will be spilt into morning and afternoon sessions, starting at 10.00am and finishing at 4.45pm. There will be three esteemed speakers on the subject of dementia; Rose Magowan, who will discuss practical tips for improving and using the environment in everyday life at home; Ricky Pollock, considering general principles of ‘dementia friendly’ design; and Rosemary Mbire, who will focus on auditing the environment in dementia care homes.
An information stall run by the Alzheimer’s Society will also be on hand to provide practical advice and answer any questions visitors may have.
Home Manager Anne Gregory said: “This seminar day will be the perfect opportunity for the public to come and find out more about dementia, whether they are carers of someone with the condition, or simply interested in finding out more. The speakers are renowned for their wisdom and insight on the subject, and so we are sure that it will be very useful. We hope to see a good turnout, as we are aware that dementia is a distressing condition that leaves those who experience it in need of as much help as possible.”
