Nursing home appoints new chef

Garth House Nursing Care Home at Tower Hill, Dorking, has appointed a new resident chef.

Nelson Jesus has joined the team at Garth House, having previously worked at Cranmer Court Nursing Home in Farleigh, Surrey one of the UK’s newest and most prestigious purpose built care homes.

Both care homes are owned and operated by the UK’s largest independent care home provider, the Caring Homes Group.

Garth House manager Jane Starr said staff and residents were delighted to have Nelson on the team. Jane said: “Meal times are an important aspect of daily life at Garth House and much emphasis is placed on residents’ nutritional needs as well as the importance of offering a good choice of dishes.

“Nelson’s training and experience enables him to take all this into account when planning the daily menus and the residents seem to be very pleased with the variety of mouth watering dishes he is able to offer.”

Nelson said: “I am delighted to be part of the team at such a friendly nursing home. My aim is to provide fresh, home-cooked food that will make meal times into an enjoyable highlight of each day for residents.”

Garth House is a delightful 19th century country manor, set in large landscaped gardens and was officially opened in 1949 by the Queen’s physician Lord Horder.
