Residents at Hillside retirement home at Great Cornard, Sudbury, now have their very own place in the sun with the completion of a luxurious new extension.
The extension includes a spacious brick built conservatory-style sun lounge with French doors leading on to a splendid new decking area. Care home manager Janet Warner said: “It is a really lovely place where residents can sit and soak up the sunshine all year round and also take their meals, if they wish. The new decking area will meanwhile provide an outdoor room where they can make the most of the summer and enjoy the fresh air.”
The extension has also provided three new en-suite bedrooms and a modern state- of-the-art bathroom. The new rooms are all equipped with wet rooms, which allow residents to take a shower either sitting or standing. The new bathroom, meanwhile, is fitted with a high tech bath, which lowers elderly residents safely into the bathtub at the touch of a button.
Improvements at the care home also include a second new decking area off the dining room; another benefit for residents to enjoy from the refurbishment project. There is a new car park providing easy and convenient access and parking for visitors, friends and relatives.
Hillside, at Kings Hill, was previously a doctor’s house, which opened as a care home in 1973. Facilities at the retirement home also include a nurse call system in all rooms, a resident chef and single rooms with many overlooking the attractive gardens.
Hillside was recently awarded the coveted Institute of Hospitality Assurance standard for service and business excellence.
The will be an official ‘Grand Opening’ of the new building extensions on 2nd June 2007 and everyone is invited to attend.
