The Heffle Court chicks have finally arrived

Heffle Court residents were delighted when our baby chicks finally arrived and they are now a full week old. The project is part of our Willow Farm regeneration and we began taking visits to a local farm Glendale Manor where we met some of their animals.

They kindly lent us an incubator and a dozen freshly laid eggs. Residents then placed the eggs into the incubator and the waiting game began.

The eggs began to hatch taking most of the day to arrive, everyone popping in to have a peek just in case. The anticipation was high as everyone eagerly looked forward to the big event.

We were incredibly lucky to have some of the team and our residents witness their hatching so it was a very exciting day. One resident Anne Douglas said “it was just so beautiful to watch the arrival of new life.”

The photos show our home manager Debby Potter introducing the six chicks to our residents. The smiles say it all really, don’t you think ?

Some of the chicks will come and live in our small holding Willow Farm while others will be happily rehomed.

Would you like to become involved within the regeneration of the farm?

We are looking for volunteers who would like to become involved with this project. All help and support is gratefully appreciated.

If you would like to find out more about the Willow Farm regeneration project at Heffle Court, please contact Debby Potter on 0808 223 5510 or via email at manager.heffle@CaringHomes.org.
