Forth Bay Awarded Two Caring Homes’ Scottish Recognition Award

Angela Baird, Deputy Manager at Forth Bay care home in Kincardine on Forth, and Chloe McNally, Care Assistant, have been named Nurse of the Year and joint winner of Care Newcomer of the Year respectively in Caring Homes’ Scottish Recognition Awards.

Diane Buchanan, Activities Co-ordinator, also from the home, was Meaningful Activities Award runner-up, while Home Manager Fiona Day came runner up in the Management and Leadership category.

Angela was nominated for Nurse of the Year because of her dedicated and professional attitude, ability to lead by example and inspire others, as well as her effective and outstanding nursing practice within the care home environment.

Chloe, who joined the company 10 months ago was selected for the Care Newcomer award because of her positive impact on the home.

The awards, presented at a ceremony recently, recognise and celebrate excellence amongst Caring Homes’ seven Scottish homes. Situated on Walker Street, Kincardine, Forth Bay provides specialist nursing and dementia care for up to 53 residents.

Fiona Day, Home Manager at Forth Bay, said: “Angela really deserves Nurse of the Year award because she has done such a great job for us and our residents.

“Chloe is just a ray of sunshine – one of our youngest team members, who has taken to caring like a duck to water.

“Equally, Diane keeps the home within the community and we’d be lost without her. She can turn her hand to anything and it’s down to her work that we’ve won the Gala for the last three years.”

In addition, seven team members at Forth Bay were awarded long service certificates and vouchers for their contribution to the success of the home. They are: Housekeeper Christine Horne, 20 years; Charge Nurse Mandy Trotter, 17 years; Domestic Assistants Jan Davis and Annie Hoxley, 16 years; Care Assistants Anne Harrower and Caroline Thompson, 16 years; Staff Nurse Hazel Ward, 15 years.
