Elvis visits Hillside

The residents at Hillside in Sudbury were entertained this morning by an appearance from Elvis.

The residents, families and care team were serenaded by Elvis with songs such as ‘Love me tender’, ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ and ‘Hound Dog’. Some of the ladies were massive fans of Elvis when they were younger and loved having Elvis dancing and singing around the home, he can be seen serenading Dorothy in the picture.

The power of music, especially singing, to unlock memories and kickstart the grey matter is an increasingly key feature of care. It really lifts the mood of the residents, providing reminiscence of their younger years.

Some of the residents got up and danced with the care team, whilst others reveled dancing in their chairs, singing and clapping along.

Thank you for a fantastic afternoon, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Hillside provides residential care for up to 44 elderly people. Located in Sudbury in Suffolk, we also benefit from a close working relationship with our sister home, Mellish House, located next door. Mellish House provides specialist residential support for people living with dementia.

Our two homes provide a continuous care pathway offering elderly residents, their families and loved ones, the peace of mind afforded by knowing that changing care needs can be catered for at a single location.
