Ducks and dragons at Magna Care Centre

Residents at Magna Care Centre in Wimborne have been enjoying the summer weather by spending as much time as possible outside in the courtyard. To make things a bit more interesting and fun, staff added a paddling pool full of toy ducks to join residents in the beautiful weather.

Residents attempted to hook as many ducks as possible out of the paddling pool and had such fun while doing so. One resident was laughing so much she was crying and then set everyone else off – who knew hooking ducks could be so enjoyable!

“When it is sunny we always encourage our residents to enjoy the beautiful English weather” said Heidi Williams, Home Manager; “It was so hot today that we couldn’t possibly have sat inside so we abandoned our original activities programme for another day and made the most of the weather. Staff had placed the paddling pool on two towels so we could drag it along and make it accessible to as many residents as possible. This really was a hilariously fun game, in the beautiful sunny weather.”

Residents have also had a visit from some unlikely creatures recently in the form of a raccoon, bearded dragon, stick insect and a kookaburra. Creature Teachers are popular with residents and have visited several times, everyone enjoys holding and stroking the animals.

“It’s great that Creature Teachers visit our residents so often” said Heidi Williams, Home Manager; “They are so popular amongst residents and are welcome to visit any time.”

Magna Care Centre in Wimborne is a stunning purpose-built care centre providing residential and specialist nursing care for up to 63 elderly residents.
