Coxhill Manor’s ‘Right Royal Day’

For the Queen’s official 90th Birthday Celebrations, residents at Coxhill Manor took part in this historic event on with a series of themed activities over the week leading up to this day and watching the festivities live on our big screen in the morning.

In the afternoon, to carry on with the majestic theme, we hosted a Vintage Royal Tea Party for our residents with Laurence Dearling; one of our most popular, and resident’s favourite entertainers, joining us to perform and play the piano for them. There were lots of requests, flag waving and union jack hats galore. The atmosphere was great and our residents loved it.

We also held a cake activity decorating fairy cakes with red, white and blue icing which was great fun while other residents did Royal arts and crafts.

We all had a right royal day with lots of fun with singing, laughter and of course the delicious home cooked cake – it was a great day for everyone involved.

Sandra Stock, Activities Lead said:

“We could not let a big and patriotic occasion like this go past without joining in and our residents had been eagerly discussing what is going to happen right up until the morning. Some of our residents have fond memories of the Queen and grew up watching her life unfold so it is brought back many fond memories of key events in their lives too.”
