Bill hits top gear for 90th Birthday celebrations
Staff and residents at Bradbury House recently arranged for resident Bill Allen to celebrate his 90th Birthday in style with a car-themed day.
Car enthusiast Bill, along with his friend and fellow resident Brian Fuller were picked up by a stunning 1930’s Ford and whisked off to Rolls Royce and Bentley restoration garages and showrooms. Bill was in his element having worked with such cars for a number of years as a mechanic and chauffeur.
The two friends, accompanied by Home Manager Nikki Leaney, then sped off for lunch in the countryside at the Victory Inn, Wickman St. Pauls. The pub holds great memories, with Bill having spent many happy times there with his family.
“It brought back so many memories of times spent with my family and working on the motors. I have had a truly lovely day, I am so grateful to all those who helped to organise it.”
Lunch was followed by a return trip to Bradbury House to be greeted by residents and staff with a specially designed 90th Birthday cake in the design of a car.
Bradbury House manager Nikki Leaney said:
“We always try to do something a bit different to make residents’ Birthdays special. Bill is a real member of the family here and it was an honour and a pleasure to plan his special celebration.”
Bradbury House is run by family-owned Caring Homes Group, which was founded in 1994 by mother and son team, Helena and Paul Jeffery. The home provides residential support for up to 21 people in the historic town of Braintree.
