‘Alternative Olympics’ Day a Success at Kippington

The residents and staff of Kippington Care Home in Sevenoaks battled the elements this week as they staged their ‘Alternative Olympics.’
Despite the bad weather, the activities team managed to pull together a fun filled afternoon for the residents including an egg and spoon race, obstacle race and tennis. There were a number of homemade Olympic Torches on show, adding to the party atmosphere on the day.
The gold medal for the headline 'egg and spoon' race went to Christa Fuller and the silver medal went to Barbara Robbins. 'What a lovely afternoon' said Joan Lusher. 'I never thought I would win a medal' said Kathleen Reeves after winning a silver medal in the tennis event.
The afternoon was finished off with a visit from the local ice cream man who served everyone a well-deserved 99 ice cream.
Located just to the south of Sevenoaks in the Weald of Kent, Kippington has been providing residential and nursing care of the highest standard for nearly 60 years. This beautiful Victorian building was first converted into a care home in the early 1950s and now provides nursing care for up to 52 elderly residents.
