A little trip to Littlehampton
After weeks of rain, the sun decided to come out recently for the staff and residents of one of our Surrey care homes as they packed up and headed for their annual day trip to the seaside.
On a beautiful July day, eight residents from Moorlands boarded the mini bus and headed to Littlehampton, a town on the Sussex coast.
With an award winning beach, a bustling marina and a lovely harbour, there was plenty to see and do. One resident in particular really enjoyed the trip. Joy hasn’t been living at Moorlands for very long and hadn’t been on a daytrip for a long time.
Home Manager Lydia Makuyana told us that it was really lovely to see Joy having so much fun:
‘We were sitting in the garden the week before and I asked her if she would like to see the sea and she thought I was joking. On the day, she was bright and cheerful and chatted all the way there and it was a real event for her.’
The day was topped off with lunch at the local Harvester, the same pub they go to every year so the staff made sure the lunch was extra special.
Located on the edge of the vibrant village of Lightwater in Surrey, Moorlands provides residential and nursing care for up to 40 elderly people in a bright and homely environment. The home’s semi-rural location offers a tranquil setting within easy reach of the village’s many amenities.
