Standon Hall is a quite magnificent manor house, formerly home to Sir Thomas Salt, which has been sympathetically converted to provide residential care in the form of fine country living for up to 25 elderly ladies and gentlemen of distinction. Within the grounds of the Hall is The Beeches, purpose built home providing specialist dementia care for up to 31 elderly residents.
Standon Hall lies near the village of Eccleshall in Staffordshire. Located within substantial grounds the Hall commands beautiful views over the local countryside. Built for Sir Thomas Salt in the 19th Century, the house reflects his position at the time as a prominent banker and politician. Great care has been taken to retain the Hall’s magnificent period features including imposing fireplaces in the dining and living rooms, ornate stone mullion work and the grand central staircase. The sense of occasion extends to residents’ bedrooms, which are luxuriously appointed throughout.
Lying within the grounds of Standon Hall, The Beeches provides dedicated dementia care within a tranquil setting. The Beeches is designed to incorporate Stirling University’s renowned Best Practice model for dementia care. The Stirling approach ensures that residents are able to move freely around the home, with bedrooms and communal areas appropriately laid out and clearly signposted to minimise confusion or disorientation. Many bedrooms feature a memory box by the front door, where mementos from a resident’s life help to personalise their room and also remind staff and visitors of the individual’s life story.
The Beeches is ideally equipped to provide residential support for elderly people living with different types of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and Korsacoff’s syndrome. However, staff never lose sight of the fact that, first and foremost, The Beeches is home to our residents. The home has a light, airy and welcoming ambience and residents benefit from a broad and stimulating range of activities.
Standon Hall and The Beeches offer a full range of residential and specialist dementia support, including trial stays, respite breaks and convalescent care as well as long term care. Residents are encouraged to bring important personal possessions to personalise their rooms. Both homes operate an open visiting policy, where residents and loved ones may visit at convenient times. In common with all of our homes, Standon Hall and The Beeches’ Managers have qualified nursing backgrounds. Both Standon Hall and The Beeches are individually registered with the Care Quality Commission and have ISO9001/2000 and Hospitality Assured accreditation.
