Located in the attractive market town of Dereham, Sanford House is a modern purpose-built home providing nursing care and specialist dementia care for up to 40 elderly people. Sanford House is one of our retirement homes in Norfolk and has been specifically designed to create an accessible and safe environment for elderly residents who may have mobility problems. All rooms and services are laid out over the ground floor and the home is arranged in a quadrangle around an attractive courtyard garden. Many rooms feature patio doors accessing into the courtyard area.

Sanford House has an enviable reputation for delivering excellent care. The home’s dementia care provision has been designed to meet the University of Stirling’s standards, which are widely acknowledged as providing the best living environment for people living with dementia. Stirling’s Dementia Services Development Centre is renowned as the world leader in this field. The Stirling approach ensures that residents are able to move freely around the home, with bedrooms and communal areas appropriately laid out and clearly signposted to minimise confusion or disorientation.

Sanford House is ideally equipped to provide residential support for elderly people living with different types of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and Korsacoff’s syndrome. However, staff never lose sight of the fact that, first and foremost, Sanford House is home to our residents.

The home offers a full range of residential, nursing and specialist dementia support, including trial stays, respite breaks and convalescent care as well as long term care. Residents are encouraged to bring important personal possessions to personalise their rooms. Sanford House operates an open visiting policy, where residents and loved ones may visit at convenient times. In common with all of our homes, Sanford House’s manager has a qualified nursing background. The home is fully registered with the Care Quality Commission and has ISO9001/2000 and Hospitality Assured accreditation.

"The staff are outstanding and dedicated to their care and personal attention to all the residents, they are all really nice to residents. The home is kept as clean as possibly can be due to the nature of the illness, any mishaps always cleaned up as soon as possible. Food is always lovely and every resident is looked after very well making sure everybody has food and doesn't get missed. The carers do a marvellous job and I feel it is a well run care home... carehomes.co.uk" -

"My husband has been a resident of Sanford House for eight weeks, following seventeen weeks in hospital, after he suffered a massive stroke. He was severely disabled and finding it difficult to communicate. Our choice of Sanford House was influenced by the feeling of homeliness in contrast to a hospital ward. The home is very attractively presented, bright and cheerful, clean and comfortable. The staff are always friendly and prepared to answer any questions... carehomes.co.uk" -
