Oak Manor provides specialist residential and nursing care for up to 61 elderly people living with a form of dementia. Located in the peaceful village of Scarning, near Dereham in Norfolk, Oak Manor offers the very highest standard of specialist care for each of its residents.
The home, which comprises both a sensitively converted original building and a purpose-built extension, has a range of dedicated facilities and activities for people living with dementia. These include a beautiful, courtyard garden and specialist sensory activities, where highly trained staff work with residents on activities designed to stimulate positive memories and feelings.
Oak Manor has been designed to meet the University of Stirling’s universally respected dementia care standards. Stirling’s Dementia Services Development Centre is renowned as the world leader in this field. The Stirling approach ensures that residents are able to move freely around the home, with bedrooms and communal areas appropriately laid out and clearly signposted to minimise confusion or disorientation.
Oak Manor is ideally equipped to provide residential support for elderly people living with different types of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and Korsacoff’s syndrome. However, staff never lose sight of the fact that, first and foremost, Oak Manor is home to our residents. The home has a light, airy and welcoming ambience and residents benefit from a broad and thoroughly enjoyable range of activities.
The home offers a full range of residential support, including trial stays, respite breaks and convalescent care as well as long term care. Residents are encouraged to bring important personal possessions to personalise their rooms. Oak Manor operates an open visiting policy, where residents and loved ones may visit at convenient times. In common with all of our homes, Oak Manor’s manager has a qualified nursing background. The home is fully registered with the Care Quality Commission and has ISO9001/2000 and Hospitality Assured accreditation.

Life in a Caring Home is viewed as a continuum of life – an opportunity to gain new experiences and learn new things – whilst maintaining your existing hobbies and interests.
At every Caring Home, there is a dedicated activities co-ordinator who is on hand to support residents in learning new hobbies and maintaining existing ones.
An activities programme is developed by the activities co-ordinators who work in conjunction with the clinical team in reviewing each individuals occupational interests and tailoring an activities programme that addresses them.
