Located in the beautiful conservation village of Willian, just a mile to the south of Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, Guysfield provides residential care for up to 50 elderly people. Originally a substantial country house built in 1884, Guysfield has been sensitively converted and extended to provide the very highest standard of residential care.

The original house retains a wealth of period features and the substantial mature gardens are a favourite amongst residents, whether taking the air in warmer weather or simply enjoying the view from the Victorian style conservatory. Guysfield plays a very active role in village life, with many residents making the most of local amenities, including the village shop, post office and the two pubs – the Fox and the Three Horseshoes.

The home offers a full range of residential care support, including trial stays, respite breaks and convalescent care as well as long term care. Residents are encouraged to bring important personal possessions to personalise their rooms. Guysfield operates an open visiting policy, where residents and loved ones may visit at convenient times. In common with all of our homes, Guysfield’s manager has a qualified nursing background. The home is fully registered with the Care Quality Commission and has ISO 9001/2000 and Hospitality Assured accreditation.

"My mother has just spent her first ever three weeks in this residential care home named above. The staff have been wonderful, my mother always sings there praises and settled in very quickly. I felt confident in their ability to make sure mum was being taken great care of. She had been only used to living at home. I worried at the beginning that she would not settle, but everything was very good indeed... carehomes.co.uk" -

"Friendly staff, always happy and eager to please, nothing to hide, you can look around as much as you like. My mum was well below weight when she went to the home, now has put on nearly a stone, fantastic work by all the staff. Activities every day which is great for the minds. Food excellent and conditions. I was completely worried about Mum going to a home, no more worries. Brilliant work by all the staff and management at Guysfield." -

"Recently my aunt became unable to look after herself at home, with the onset of dementia made worse by a stroke. I have worked in care homes and still work as a health care professional so took time to find one that I felt happy with, both as a relative and professionally. On our first ever visit I found the staff helpful friendly and willing to show us around, all residents appeared happy and well cared for... carehomes.co.uk" -

"My mother has been in Guysfield for 12 years and early this year had a very bad stroke and was in hospital for 8 weeks. The care home staff have been wonderful. They assessed her in hospital and though she needed a lot of care they insisted they were more than happy to have her back in the home. The staff were trained to give her PEG feeding and they liaise constantly with her GP and district nurses to give her the best care and attention possible... carehomes.co.uk" -

"After viewing several homes, I selected Guysfield, mainly because of the staff. I was relieved and very pleased when my mother very quickly loved living there. She liked all aspects of the home and many of the staff became friends. The food is good and the en-suite important. When she became very ill, they willingly supported her with extra care. All the family have been pleased and grateful. A resident friend also enjoys living there and likes/appreciates the friendly helpful staff." -

"Staff kind and respectful. Nice rooms. Good communal sitting area. Residents do have activities and special events to celebrate special days, to which relatives are invited. Recently refurbished 'old style' sitting room for residents and relatives to use. Set in lovely area." -

"My mother has been a resident here for over 2 years. Her own room is bright, spacious and well kept. She is happy at Guysfield and likes the homeliness. The staff seem genuinely interested, caring and concerned for the residents well being and my family and I always find them friendly and welcoming." -

"This care home is situated in pleasant grounds with a large conservatory overlooking them, connecting the two halves of the period building. The care staff are outstanding, combining personal care with the ability to monitor medical conditions, reporting to the care team leader, who liaises with local doctors. As a package this is hard to beat, although like all high standard care this comes at a price to the care user." -

"I have had my mother Margaret living in Guysfield for the past 4 years. She has been looked after well and always looks presentable. I'm very pleased with the home. Staff are helpful and very caring towards the residents. Many residents there including my mother have mental as well as physical disabilities and staff cope with all this very sympathetically. I would recommend Guysfield to anyone." -

"My mother has been living at Guysfield for over two years. I am very happy with the standard of care she receives. Mum suffers from macular degeneration and a degree of vascular dementia. As coping on her own became increasingly difficult, she decided that it was time to move to a care home. When we set out to look for a care home for her, we all liked the gentle, dignified atmosphere of Guysfield... carehomes.co.uk" -

"My mother has now been at Guysfield Care Home for 11+ months. I am very happy I moved her there and my children agree. It is light, bright and homely, not at all institutional in feel. My mother is happy there and likes the homeliness of it. The Carer's are just that, all very caring of the residents. Each resident is treated as an individual. I can visit as often as I want to and at anytime. The Carers are always friendly and welcoming... carehomes.co.uk" -
