Manager's Profile

As the Home Manager at Guysfield ensuring that all residents receive optimum care is my key priority. Supporting my care team’s aspirations and watching them grow is also incredibly important and rewarding. A great team makes for a great home.

Brought up in Letchworth, I have family that live very close to Guysfield so know the area really well and was educated and trained locally at the NHS hospitals in Hertfordshire.

I began my career in the NHS working in forensics and managing assessment units for dementia before moving into care home management as a behaviour specialist, I progressed into senior roles quite quickly. This provided me with the opportunity for additional training in palliative care and also assessor training for NVQs. I have lectured for Bedford and North Herts colleges and also taught students on the Health and Social Care and refresher courses for nurses which has allowed me to build strong local ties. I also spent time supporting bereaved families for the charity CHUMS and was a speaker for the charity.

The biggest achievement for me is turning a potentially traumatic situation into a positive experience; this can be so rewarding for all concerned.

I enjoy meeting new people from a variety of backgrounds, from residents and their family members to care colleagues from other homes, as well as care professionals and specialists outside the home.

I love reading and have completed several Open University Classic Literature studies – Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is a particular favourite. Other pastimes include cooking Middle Eastern dishes and walking our dogs to keep fit. I also follow the local rugby and football teams very closely, as my nephew plays for a professional football academy.
