Located in the attractive market town of Chippenham, Ferfoot provides specialist dementia residential care for up to 52 elderly people. Based around a large family home, built from Wiltshire stone in 1902, Ferfoot has been sympathetically converted and extended to deliver the highest standard and is now considered one the of the top residential care homes in Wiltshire.
Ferfoot offers a beautiful yet homely living environment for residents. Bedrooms and communal areas are all finished to the highest standard and the delightful garden has been designed specifically around the needs of people living with dementia. The home has an excellent reputation in the local area and retains strong community links.
Ferfoot’s interior has been designed to meet the University of Stirling’s universally respected dementia care standards. Stirling’s Dementia Services Development Centre is renowned as the world leader in this field. The Stirling approach ensures that residents are able to move freely around the home, with bedrooms and communal areas appropriately laid out and clearly signposted to minimise confusion or disorientation. This specialist approach extends to the care provided at Ferfoot, where our dedicated staff work closely with residents and their loved ones to create a Life Story for each resident, helping to ensure that care and activities take into account each person’s individual life experience.
Ferfoot is ideally equipped to provide residential support for elderly people living with different types of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and Korsacoff’s syndrome. However, staff never lose sight of the fact that, first and foremost, Ferfoot is home to our residents. The home has a light, airy and welcoming ambience and residents benefit from a broad and stimulating range of activities.
The home offers a full range of residential support, including trial stays, respite breaks and convalescent care as well as long term care. Residents are encouraged to bring important personal possessions to personalise their rooms. Ferfoot operates an open visiting policy, where residents and loved ones may visit at convenient times. In common with all of our homes, Ferfoot’s manager has a qualified nursing background.
